My wife Kelly is ready to go for a run in the rain at 6:30 in the morning. “I am always ready for a run.” On the days that she runs she wakes up with one tap of the alarm clock. On non-running days it is 3-5. You know why. She loves running.
Have you ever heard of habit stacking?
When you are trying to build a new habit, stack something good as a reward every time you do the habit you are trying to build. This is a reward that will help you want to build that habit. It is a good way to start a new habit that you have always wanted to start.
60% of our days are habits. That is part of why change is so hard because we are creatures of habit. When we have changes that occur, like what we are going through right now, we need to re-establish our habits to get back to a normal state of being.
We have more time on our hands, what kinds of habits do you want to create? Come up with 2 or 3 habits that will help make you better. Here are a few of my habits… and why
1 - Make my bed every morning & make it the best that I can. - This puts me in the mentality that I want to do everything the best that I can that day, I also like coming back to a nice bed at night.
2 - Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning - We wake up dehydrated and this helps get my body going. I learned this through habit stacking my coffee, because I like coffee.
3 - Sweating - I like to get a good sweat 1 time per day.
When you think about these new habits don’t make them too hard, keep them simple and then take the steps to remind yourself to do them.
Let’s CRUSH the day!
